One tough teacher gave

me a grade I didn’t think

I deserved at all –

It’s true, I did rush

thru reading the writing prompt –

but the ticking clock!

Just once, pressure won –

Rushed to the task of writing

and earned a fat FOUR

“…prose generally

conveys the writer’s id-

-eas but may suggest

immature control

 of writing.”

Rhetorical skill

aside – I needed more time

to think about it

Close reading takes time, but it’s worth it – this, a lesson I learned circa 2010 in AP Language 🙇‍♀️ 🧐
